"The Church is called to bring awareness to policies and programs that support the life and dignity of every human person from conception through natural death, as well as policies that protect and provide for the poor and vulnerable, ensure justice for immigrants, strengthen the family unit and those that ensure all people have easy access to adequate medical and behavioral health care.
"The charitable work of the Church to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless and support pregnant women and their families leads us to engage in advocacy to end systemic poverty, homelessness and hunger and to work for positive change in education, health care, services for women with unplanned pregnancies, the elderly, persons with disabilities and support for the poor and vulnerable around the world."
Advocacy means supporting and defending a cause that you believe in. Advocates work for justice by impacting the public conversation about issues affecting the poor and vulnerable with the hopes their efforts will lead to positive and just change.
