Catholic parishes in the Waco Deanery of the Diocese of Austin will participate in a grassroots Eucharistic Revival on Saturday, June 10, the Feast of Corpus Christi (Latin for “The Body of Christ”).
The day will begin with Mass at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis on the Brazos Church. Following the Mass, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the procession will begin its one-mile trek to St. Mary Church in Waco. The faithful are invited to walk along the procession in honor of the Most Holy Eucharist of Jesus. The journey will end with Adoration, praise & worship, and Benediction at St. Mary’s in Waco. The route will take the Most Holy Eucharist down Jefferson Avenue to 8th Street and then over one block to Columbus Avenue, then down Columbus Avenue to 14th Street and into St. Mary's Church.
In addition to marking the feast day, the procession launches the deanery’s participation in the National Eucharistic Revival. U.S. Dioceses are invited to “Take Jesus into the community." In the Eucharist, the sacrifice of Christ is made present, and the sacrifice of Christ is the fullest expression of the love of the Father and the Son. This jubilant Corpus Christi festival has been celebrated since the year 1264. All Christian faiths and non-practicing Christian faiths are invited to attend this revival and procession.
