In the Sponsor Couple Ministry a married couple is trained to assist a couple preparing for marriage by helping them reflect upon the realities of married life. Modern marriage preparation programs, such as Sponsor Couple, are proving their value. Studies of married couples who completed a marriage preparation program have shown that they are better equipped at knowing more of the skills that a Christian Marriage will require, e.g.,

1. How each person is committed to the lifelong task of becoming a better person and thus a better partner
2. The importance of family traditions
3. Communications and problem solving skills
4. Money matters and career planning
5. Prayer and marital spirituality
6. Family planning
7. Parenting, etc.

We use the For Better & For Ever Program by Robert A. Ruhnke, C.SS.R., D. Min. as the source for our marriage sponsorship program. The couple to be married meet with a sponsor couple on a one on one basis at the convenience of both couples. These sessions are intended to take place six months prior (more or less) to the wedding.
